IMPORTANT REMINDER
Action by you required - New Competency Requirements
As previously advised there are new mandatory training and minimum skill requirements for insulation installers under the Home Insulation Program.
By 12 February 2010, installers are required to provide evidence that all people involved in installing insulation materials meet the new minimum requirements. Supervision by a qualified person is now not enough to satisfy the new training and competency requirements. Each individual involved in the installation must meet the requirements.
You need to complete the Competency Requirements Form and lodge it with the Department with relevant documents for each installer i.e.:
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Copies of trade specific licences or qualifications
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Copies of RTO statement of attainment specific to insulation
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Evidence of 2 years industry experience and Statutory Declaration or statement of prior industry experience.
The Form will be available on the website here: http://www.environment.gov.au/energyefficiency/insulation/installers/publications/index.html from Thursday 4 February 2010.
Please take care when completing the documentation as forms that are incomplete or do not have the relevant documents attached will not be processed and will be returned to you. All installers listed on the form must have the relevant supporting documentation.
It is also important to ensure that an individual installer’s name is exactly the same as the installer’s name on claims you lodge.
From 12 February 2010, the Department may reject claims for payment if you submit those claims against an installer for whom you have not provided training and competency details.
If you employ or sub-contract new installers after 12 February 2010, you will need to provide the Department with evidence of their training and competency together with a Competency Requirements Form.
